Rumors have been circulating that vocalist Brian Johnson is back in AC/DC ever since some candid photos surfaced from a Vancouver recording studio last year. While it’s certainly possible (albeit unlikely) the singer had just popped in for some tea with his old mates, Johnson has now confirmed he’s back with the band.
The confirmation comes via a most unlikely source: grindcore kings Terrorizer, who ran into Johnson at the airport recently and asked him point blank about his status in the band. In a Facebook message thanking their fans for a successful European tour, the band added the following:
“We ran into Brian Johnson from AC/DC at the airport today after the flight home and we asked him about the rumors of him being on the new AC/DC album and he said ‘yes’ and that he is ‘sick of denying it.’ So that was a cool surprise ending to the tour.”
Neither Johnson or the band has yet to publicly confirm the above. Johnson left AC/DC in 2016 as a result of hearing loss. Axl Rose replaced him as the band’s live vocalist, and was reported to be working on new material with the band.
